Crochet Motifs – What To Do?

I have Crochet Motifs by Edie Eckman.  I love this book.   It features very easy little motifs which don’t take much time to crochet.  It gets a little addicting.

What to do with all of these crocheted motifs?

The book gives you tons of  ideas.  I was planning on putting a few of them together and using them as a pillow.  Never ended up making enough motifs.

Instead, I decided to use one of the motifs from the book (#51)

and use it to embellish a pouch I was making to hold earrings I made for my mom’s birthday.

The pouch itself is approximately 3″ x 4″ made of muslim.  I sewed the motif to the front.  I also crocheted a border for the top.  A button was added with a crocheted chain to use as a closure.

I used DMC embroidery floss for the motif.  I also added a bead to the middle.  I like the contrast of colors and textures of the motif.

Here are the earrings I made.

Crocheting motifs can be very meditative after awhile.  Of course, weaving in the thread ends can be a bit annoying.  Put on some music and have fun with it.

Happy New Year!

Wishing you a year full of creative projects and grounded days.
