I made the above earrings last week and have worn them two times this week. They were made using 14K gold findings and beads. Also, used are some glass beads I bought a few months ago. I need to take a jewelry making class and expand my skills.
I have found a few podcasts I am enjoying immensely.
The New Disruptors is an interesting podcast about the new economy and how things are being made and delivered. I love listening to the conversation because the host is engaging and curious. This podcast is entertaining and inspiring.
Imake is a crafty podcast that has over 50 episodes available (how did I miss it?). Pour a glass of wine or cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the crafty goodness of this podcast. For me this podcast is pure loveliness. She also has a blog!
I was fortunate to see Natalie Merchant in concert this past week at The Smith Center. What a show! I have been listening to Natalie Merchant since the early 80′s. Some songs make me think of certain times and people. I admit to shedding a few tears during her concert.
I am also enjoying Lisa Loeb’s, No Fairy Tale.
I have been reading up a storm lately. Some books I have enjoyed are:
Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard - I read this one for my book club this month. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make this month’s meeting since they changed the date. Oh well. I still enjoyed this book about President Garfield’s assasination. Learned many things.
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman - This is a heart breaking book. A boat containing a baby and a man (dead) washes up on the island where a childless couple live. They decide to keep the baby and this book is about the consequences of that choice. A very well written and thought provoking book.
I have been organizing a few projects lately. My goal for this month is to (finally) post my kerchief pattern. I was drafting it and realized one of the needed stitches was as clear as mud. I posted the tutorial for the stitch this past week. I will try to post the pattern soon.
Other projects are in the works. There is sewing, crocheting and combinations of both I am thinking about doing. Some will make their way here as tutorials. I just realized Valentine’s Day is around the corner. I don’t have any Valentine tutorials in the work.
